![]() I must have ripped out the center of that shawl about 20 times because I kept getting lost and could NOT read my knitting! But by the time I was finished, I was a lace knitter. It included lace patterning both sides, and also a knitted on edging that I needed to graft together. It had a lace center and then needed stitches picked up all the way around. I fell in love with a Shetland style square shawl, so I decided to do it. I jumped into the deep end for sure! It was my first time using laceweight yarn and also the first time I’d actually done lace. Romi: I’d have to say it was the first shawl I knit. ![]() □ What is the most challenging thing that you have knit to date? Loopy: No socks? Out of all of your pages of designs, I just see just a handful of sock patterns (plus leg warmers and boot toppers.) So that makes sense. That’s a difficult one, because whatever I’m about to knit is my favorite thing! I think I have to go with my least favorite instead. What is your favorite type of item to knit? Those pretty yarn colors are probably what caught your eye early on. Loopy: It’s fun that your family was already into yarn and crocheting. I was completely in love with the look of stockinette stitch. She taught me to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. Romi: Hi Loopy – thanks for having me! I’ve been a knitter for OMG 46 years! You feel like it really could be happening in the next town or next street over from you,” he added.Ĭreated by writer and producer Terri Minsky who is also responsible for the likes of Lizzie McGuire and Finding Carter, Joshua shared that although he didn’t exactly grow up with Lizzie, the show was a significant part of his childhood. It’s different from a lot of kids shows out there because it’s very natural. “I think how real Andi Mack is, is going to draw in a lot of viewers. Joshua developed an interest in working on the show immediately after reading the script for the first time and seeing the direction the show would go. “He’s also got this awesome dry sense of humor I think people are really going to love.” And when you need to hang out with someone, you can,” Joshua continued. He’s the guy who, when you need to tell a secret you can-though his mom more than likely will know. “Cyrus definitely plays as this very ‘there when you need him’ kind of character. “He’s always there when she needs him, whether it be a shoulder to cry on or a friend to hang out with Cyrus is always there for Andi.” ![]() “Cyrus really helps Andi understand everything that’s going on by being a good friend,” he explains about his awkward, but charismatic character. ![]() Joshua Rush plays the role of Cyrus, one of Andi’s best friends. Noise level: I sat a foot away from each litter box and used the smartphone app dB Volume to record how loud each model was when it activated.Scooping and processing time: I soiled each litter box with our stand-ins for cat pee and poop (¼ cup of water and halfway-melted chocolate, respectively) and assessed how well and how quickly the litter box scooped out the mess.“I usually recommend against automatic litter boxes because if anything goes wrong with them, it can scare the bejesus out of them and they’re not going to want to use it ever again,” said Mary Molloy, ASPCA animal behavior counselor and owner of pet-training company Nirvana Tails in New York City. While it was quieter than other models, some experts said they believed that the raking motion or any mechanical sound could deter some cats. The PetSafe ScoopFree Ultra was one of the quietest machines we tested, measuring about 50 decibels (around the volume of a household conversation) when scooping away waste. And it got even louder when it scooped, with the arm making a banging noise as it shook off loose litter granules from the clumped waste. The CatGenie was the loudest litter box we tried: In our tests it loudly flushed water when clearing out the waste, an effect that could scare cats that are already skittish. Some cats (and people) may be put off by how loud automatic litter boxes can be-and if a cat has a negative association with a litter box, it might not use the box. ![]() ![]() ![]() This means those around you can see your eyes, even while using the Vision Pro. Using internal cameras and sensors, a live feed of your eyes can be displayed on the Vision Pro and indicates when you’re using Eyesight to see through your headset’s cameras. Incredibly, that passthrough of information extends to you. Would you rather the real world fade away? You can add an immersive landscape experience instead of the real world, transporting yourself to a number of places, and can fine-tune your immersion level (i.e., whether you want it to be slightly transparent or not) using the Digital Crown. Apps can be placed in physical space and expanded or shrunk to your needs, and they can be anchored in place so they don’t move when you do. Apple intends for you to use this around your house as a place to construct your own augmented reality space. The array of sensors and cameras on the front of the device means you can see your home through the Vision Pro, much like the Meta Quest’s Passthrough feature. As such, the Vision Pro has all the same Apple apps as your iPhone and can access your photos, videos, and call contacts. Apple is clearly intending the headset to be an extension of your existing Apple ecosystem. It makes sure images are sent to the display in a seamless manner, eradicating frame lag that would impair the experience and freeing up the M2 to handle the other processing.Ī blend of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), the Vision Pro is the first Apple product you look through rather than at. It’s powered by Apple’s powerful M2 processor., the same chip you’ll find in the latest Macbook Pro 13-inch laptops, and it’s backed up by a new R1 chip created especially for the Vision Pro. This headset is an extremely high-end entry in VR headsets, too, with each of the two displays containing more pixels than a 4K TV for unmatched crispness. Instead, the Vision Pro is controlled by your voice, hands, and eyes. Inserts can be added for those who use glasses, while the battery is connected by wire and can be slipped into a pocket so it doesn’t weigh down the headset. The headset’s frame bends slightly to fit around your face, while the band has been designed to be as comfortable as possible. There’s a Digital Crown on the Vision Pro, too, borrowed from the Apple Watch to provide a small element of physical control. ![]() Light materials have been used wherever possible, with more premium and heavier materials only used where absolutely necessary - like the front of the device, which is entirely glass. ![]() Most VR headsets are big and heavy items, and it’s clear a slim build and light weight were top of Apple’s goals with this headset. Instead, the Vision Pro is a VR headset set to compete with the Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR2 and sports a similar style, with a broad visor and full head strap.Įxcept, it’s not exactly the same as its competitors. It’s important to note that this product is not the long-awaited Apple-branded smart glasses, which are a purely AR experience and will probably look like a regular pair of glasses. The Apple Watch’s worst feature isn’t getting better with watchOS 10ġ1 features in iOS 17 that I can’t wait to use on my iPhone I hope Apple brings this Vision Pro feature to the iPhone ![]() ![]() Another elephant in the room is that Troubleshooter had already been rejected, specifically by Willis, for being too similar to Under Siege. Would Die Hard 3: Cruise Control have suffered the same ignominy? A major complaint of Speed 2 was the non-return of Keanu Reaves, star of 1994’s Speed, so perhaps as long as Die Hard 3 has Bruce Willis, it would have an advantage over Speed 2. It was repurposed to becomes 1997’s Speed 2: Cruise Control, a film that received largely negative reviews, only barely turned a profit from its $160 million budget, and was nominated for eight Golden Raspberry Awards, the parody award show honouring the worst of Hollywood cinema. ![]() The one we know for sure at one point was intended to become the third Die Hard film, Troubleshooter, was eventually filmed. There are numerous action movie scripts that floated around Hollywood and became sequels to existing films. The purchase of the script by Warner Brothers was never completed, and Lethal Weapon 4 spent several more years in its own troubled development before being released in 1998. Much like the other one that the original Die Hard was originally meant to be a sequel to 1985’s Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. As much as there is hope that in some universe somewhere there exists footage of Glover and Gibson bickering over how to get 4 gallons of water using only 3- and 5-gallon jugs, the longstanding legend that Lethal Weapon 4 became Die Hard with a Vengeance is just that: a legend. They presumably would have replaced the NYPD cop and activist leads with series stars Danny Glover and Mel Gibson as Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs. Their intentions? To turn it into the fourth film in the Lethal Weapon series. The script was well-regarded within Hollywood, and word reached Warner Brothers who made overtures to Fox to purchase the script. Simon Says went back to a list of available scripts owned by Fox, but before it joins Die Hard history, it has a brief detour to another 1980s originating action series. He was already in the midst of filming his next headlining performance while Fox was preparing multiple scripts for him, when tragedy struck. That Rapid Fire was not well-received aside from Lee’s performance speaks to the potential the actor had at becoming a major star. Lee was meant to play Alex Bradshaw of the NYPD, who becomes embroiled in a revenge plot across the city accompanied by Angela Bassett as a community activist. The younger Lee had a star-making turn in 1992’s Rapid Fire, and Fox had begun planning not only sequels to that film, but also other starring vehicles. Fox purchased the film with the intention of turning it into a vehicle for up-and-coming star Brandon Lee, son of the legendary Bruce Lee. Simon Says had been written on spec, that is non-commissioned and unsolicited, with the hope of having it optioned and purchased by a producer or company. ![]() Hensleigh was a newcomer to the industry, with most of his credits being episodes of the television series The Young Indiana Jones. A controversial choice when there was still seen to be a major distinction between film and television actors, but perhaps more than any other, the right choice that made Die Hard the enduring success it became on release.Įlsewhere in early 1990s Hollywood, screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh had written a script under the title Simon Says. The septuagenarian crooner declined, and television star Bruce Willis landed the lead, renamed to John McClane, after muscle-bound 80s action stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone amongst many others passed. In fact, when Fox finally began work on adapting the more high-concept Nothing Lasts Forever in 1987, they were obliged to offer the lead role to the original Joe Leland: Frank Sinatra. ![]() 20th Century Fox had adapted The Detective with Sinatra and had purchased the rights to the novel’s sequel more than a decade before it was written. ![]() That novel was itself a sequel to Thorp’s 1966 novel The Detective, which was filmed in 1968 under the same name featuring Frank Sinatra as its main character: NYPD detective Joe Leland. The original 1988 holiday classic began life as Roderick Thorp’s 1979 novel Nothing Lasts Forever. It is a quirk of the Die Hard series that, of the five films released, only one of them began production life as a Die Hard film. ![]() ![]() ![]() Need I say more ) She is thorough and uses brushes to blend your tan.
